SUSPECT ARRESTED IN LAS VEGAS KIDNAPPING AND FATAL CRASH

“Multi-Vehicle Collision Follows Carjacking on Las Vegas Strip; One Dead, Several Injured”

LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a violent sequence of events that began with a carjacking and ended in a fatal crash near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Maryland Parkway.

The Incident: Saturday, April 11, 2026

The events unfolded during the late morning hours in a high-traffic area of the city.

  • The Initial Theft: According to police reports, a suspect forcibly took a vehicle that was occupied by a passenger. The victim was unable to exit the car before the suspect fled the scene, leading to a kidnapping investigation.

  • The Pursuit: Witnesses reported the stolen vehicle traveling at high speeds through surface streets, weaving through traffic and ignoring signal lights.

  • The Fatal Collision: At approximately 11:45 AM, the stolen vehicle entered the intersection at Sahara and Maryland, striking multiple other cars. The impact involved at least four vehicles and caused significant wreckage across several lanes.

Casualties and Emergency Response

Emergency responders arrived to find a complex scene with multiple victims trapped in their vehicles.

  • Fatalities: One individual, an occupant of one of the vehicles struck by the suspect, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clark County Coroner’s Office is currently working to notify next of kin.

  • Injuries: Several others, including the kidnapping victim from the stolen vehicle, were transported to University Medical Center. Their conditions range from stable to critical.

  • The Suspect: The driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to flee the crash site on foot but was apprehended by patrol officers a short distance away.
