IN LOVING MEMORY: BERNARD JOSEPH “BERNIE” MISHO (1965–2026)

“A Life of Melody, Family, and Craftsmanship”

VANDERGRIFT, PA — It is with great sadness that the family of Bernie Misho announces his passing on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Born and raised in the heart of Pennsylvania, Bernie was a “shining light” to his family and a familiar, friendly face to many in the Vandergrift area.

A Life Built on Passion and Skill

Born on June 7, 1965, in Natrona Heights to the late Joseph and Ida Misho, Bernie grew up with a strong sense of community and a drive to create.

  • Education & Career: A proud 1983 graduate of Kiski Area High School, Bernie spent his professional life as a skilled kitchen countertop installer. His handiwork lives on in many homes across the region, a lasting legacy of his attention to detail and hard work.

  • The Music in His Soul: Bernie was rarely without a guitar. He found peace and inspiration in the strings, often spending hours playing and listening to the blues-rock legends, particularly Eric Clapton.

  • The Great Outdoors: When he wasn’t playing music, Bernie could be found at the water’s edge. He was an avid fisherman who appreciated the quiet patience of the sport and the beauty of Pennsylvania’s natural landscape.

Community & Family Bonds

Bernie was a dedicated member of the VFW Post #566 in Vandergrift, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow members. He was a man who valued loyalty—both to his country’s veterans and to his tight-knit circle of friends and family.

He is survived by a large and loving family who will carry his memory forward:

  • Siblings: His sisters, Michele and Pattie Jo, and his twin brother, Brian J. Misho.

  • The Next Generation: Four nieces, two great-nieces, and four great-nephews who looked up to their “Uncle Bernie.”

  • Close Friends: His longtime companions, Felecia and Joe, who stood by him through the years.

A Final Tribute

“Bernie didn’t need a stage to be a star. Whether he was fixing a kitchen or playing a riff on his guitar, he did it with a heart that was pure and a spirit that was kind.” — Family Reflection

Services and Arrangements

The community is invited to celebrate Bernie’s life and support the Misho family during the following scheduled services:

  • Visitation: Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brady-Curran Funeral Home (429 Franklin Ave, Vandergrift).

  • Blessing Service: Immediately following the visitation at 7:00 PM, officiated by Father Alan Polyczynski.

  • Interment: A private burial will take place at St. Gertrude Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

How to Honor Bernie

In memory of Bernie’s love for music and nature, the family suggests the following:

  1. Plant a Tree: A living tribute to Bernie’s love for the outdoors.

  2. Support Local Music: Attend a live performance or support local guitarists in his honor.

  3. Share a Memory: The family encourages friends to post photos or stories of Bernie on the Tribute Wall to help preserve his “shining” legacy.

Rest in Peace, Bernie. Your song will play on in our hearts forever.
