He was 43.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"495\" data-end=\"837\">According to Grenada County Sheriff\u2019s Office Chief Deputy Ricky Williamson II, correctional officers discovered Welch unresponsive in his cell during routine checks. Jail personnel immediately initiated emergency protocols, but Welch was pronounced deceased at the facility. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"839\" data-end=\"1221\">Welch had been incarcerated since mid-March 2026 following his arrest on multiple charges, including Touching of a Child for Lustful Purposes and Statutory Rape. Court records show that additional charges were later filed, and his bond was increased during an April 9 hearing to a total of $450,000.
