DEATH INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED IN SOUTH LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP

“Authorities Dispatch Hazmat and Coroner to Timber Lane Following Welfare Check Discovery”

SOUTH LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lebanon County Coroner’s Office and local law enforcement are investigating the death of a woman found inside a home on the 300 block of Timber Lane. The residence is located in the Mt. Gretna community, situated near the local landmark Timbers Restaurant and Dinner Theatre.

The Incident: Tuesday, April 14, 2026

The sequence of events began as a routine request for a welfare check but quickly escalated in complexity.

  • The Discovery: South Londonderry Township Police arrived at the residence at approximately 3:30 PM to perform a well-being check. Upon entering the home, officers discovered the woman’s body.

  • Emergency Response: Lebanon County dispatch records show that the call was upgraded to a “public service assist” shortly after the discovery. In addition to the coroner, local fire departments, EMS, and a hazardous materials (Hazmat) unit were dispatched to the scene.

  • Hazmat Involvement: While authorities have not specified why Hazmat was required, these units are often called in death investigations if there is a suspicion of chemical exposure, carbon monoxide, or if the environment inside the home is deemed unsafe for investigators to process without protective equipment.

Status of the Investigation

The case is currently being handled by the South Londonderry Township Police and the Lebanon County Coroner.

  • Identification: The woman’s identity is being withheld pending positive identification and the notification of her next of kin.

  • Autopsy Scheduled: Lebanon County Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Yocum’s office has scheduled an autopsy for Thursday, April 16, to establish the official cause and manner of death.

  • Circumstances: At this time, officials have not stated whether foul play is suspected. The “cause and manner of death remain under investigation” as forensic teams await the medical examiner’s findings.
